I didn't actually think that it was getting to a server anywhere. these
groups showed up as authoriative in my server, I thought they where for
testing. And since they are not, then when you install the software, it
install the testing groups instead. All i did was reply to the test
message on my system.

I think you misunderstand - there are many groups that are specifically for
testing but scot.scots is not one of them.
If you go to whatever news program you are using and click on, "Newsgroups",
you should get a list of the groups covered by your news server and it
should have a search box.
If you now type in, "test", it will list the many groups meant for testing.
You posted a test message to a scots language group and I thus replied in
one of the Scots languages.
It is considered bad form to post tests in non-test groups but as,
scot.scots is hardly used these days, no harm was done.
If you are interested in things Scottish you could try soc.culture.scottish,
which is rather more lively, (and how).
